What is student finance?
Study allowance is a collective name for the grants and allowance you can receive if you study at upper-secondary school, such as the student grant.
Student grants and loans
You can apply for student grants and loans if you are going to study at a university, vocational college, municipal adult education, folk high school, upper-secondary school and other post-secondary education programmes. You can also apply for student grants and loans if you are going to study abroad. You can choose to only take the grant if you want.
If you are studying at municipal adult education, folk high school or another primary or secondary educational programme, you can apply for student grants and loans as of the autumn of the year you turn 20.
Education entry grant
The education entry grant is a grant directed at those who are unemployed, who have a short prior education and need education at the primary or upper-secondary level to be able to get a job. It is the municipality that first reviews if the person belongs to the target group for the education entry grant. The application is also submitted to the municipality. It is not possible to apply for the education entry grant directly with CSN.
Study allowance for people with disabilities
The study allowance for people with disabilities can be applied for by those who have a hearing impairment or motor impairment when attending a national upper-secondary school.
