Predetermined number of weeks
We have only predetermined fixed weeks for a few countries and only for courses at college or university level, following the regular academic year of the country. For studies in other countries and other studies (e.g. upper secondary level, language courses or summer courses), we always estimate the study period based on the number of weeks of study.
|Country||Number of weeks of study|
|USA|| Semesterplan (two semesters): 17 + 17 |
Quarterplan (three semesters): 13 + 13 + 13
|UK|| Two terms: a total of 39 weeks, e.g. 19 + 20 (may vary) |
Three semesters: 13 + 13 + 13
|Australia||19 + 19|
|Denmark||21 + 21|
|Norway||19 + 22|
|Poland||17 + 20|
|Spain||19 + 20|
|Germany||21 + 21|
* There are a few more countries. These are the most common.
Example: A student studies two semesters in the United States. CSN has determined the study period to 2 x 17 weeks. The student may receive 3,034 SEK x 17 weeks per semester, i.e. 51,578 SEK per semester and 103,153 SEK for a year.
